Why do we get so involved?

I sit here on a plane in which I’ve been traveling all day enroute to Reno, NV and finally I am able to see the score of the Red Sox (holy sh…) bad day. So I think to myself the o-so-positive person that I am, this is ok, we still have a series to play. It’s good to be an underdog. But, the truth of the matter is simply this: why do I get so caught up and involved in the game and the playoffs. I mean, as a fan do I really have a vested interest in the outcome? Does it really matter enough that it’s worth ruining a whole day? Is it worth the high blood pressure and the abuse I take by fans around the country that know I breathe, eat and sleep Red Sox Nation?

So, I end with this… Being a fan of Red Sox baseball, Patriots football, Celtics basketball is more than just one season and one game.

I will credit the Rays for being a great team and for an unforgettable season but I will live by this….

The Yankees Suck and Yes it is worth it to be a fan and to be addicted to my forever loyal New England sports because there could be more devastating and life ruining addictions that I could have vested interest in.

I love my sports and I love Playoff baseball.

So, I finalize my thoughts with this:
I’m a fan of great athletic play, team sports, hard work, strategy, underdogs, winning and losing and the lessons learned, the game itself. May the best team win but I will always love being a member of Red Sox Nation.

Go Red Sox!!
