The Mind is stronger than the Will Power . . .

It’s not easy and nobody ever said it was easy.  I love the questions people ask, “You lost so much weight, how did you do it?”  Or, “What diet are you doing?”  Better yet, “What’s your secret?”

Well, it is the same for speaking too.  Over the years people would ask me, “How did you build your business?”  Or, “I’m a beginning speaker and I’d love to take you out to lunch and pick your brain . . . ” The reality I’ve learned is they want me to do it for them.  Like there is some magic pill that I can prescribe to make someone a successful speaker.

Or, there is a magic pill that I can take that is going to make me look thinner.  Really!?!?!?

The bottom line is the work is every day.  It’s ever two to three hours eating to fuel your body for energy and fat loss.  It’s hitting the gym for two to three hours a day.  It’s drinking water and making sure you omit sugar, salt, high carbs from your diet.  It’s going out at night and pushing away what others are eating.  It’s no soda, no desserts, no alcohol and making every day sacrifices.

It took me a while.  I had to get it in my head but I think it’s there now.  My body was hurting a little today.  But, I had a BIG BEAST back workout that I had to push through.  I’m on vacation next week so no working out.

I made it to the gym.  Did cardio, abs, and an awesome back and triceps workout.  Don’t ask why I do chest and bi’s and back and tri’s.  I know you are probably thinking, “Dude, biceps go with back and triceps go with chest.”  I know . . . But, it’s not how I do it and my trainer is better than yours.  As a matter of fact, my trainer will kick your trainers but and my dog will beat up your dog, and my arms are bigger than yours anyways – So, it’s working!

After a great sweat and metabolism in FULL BURNING MODE . . . I went out on the bike tonight.  Living on Cape Cod in the summer can be bad.  We rode for BBQ, thenIce Cream, then to a friends house.  This could have easily been 2000 plus calories, but I had it in me that I worked too hard in the gym, sweating and sacrificing that I didn’t want to ruin it with poor choices tonight.

Here is how it played out . . .

BBQ – I split the dinner with Marsha.  Drank water and had very little.  Actually, let her eat most of it.

FourSeas Ice Cream – I didn’t have any . . . Didn’t want the Sugar.  Didn’t crave it so I didn’t eat it.

Friends House – Drank water.  No alcohol!  Didn’t crave it and didn’t want it.

End result – I feel that I didn’t eat enough.  But feel good that I made good decisions and ready to hit the gym tomorrow morning for Shoulders.

It’s in my MIND and I created the image in my MIND before I went out and asked myself for the BBQ, “Why do I want to eat this?”  I really didn’t . . . So, I split the dinner.

There is no secret.  It’s an every day decision and sacrificing.  Nothing feels better than being in the best shape of your life feels.

Thanks to my trainer for getting me back to where I want to be.
