RIP Joe Paterno

This is a sad day.  We’ve lost an icon, a man of great moral character, an honorable man.  It’s sad to me that the legacy of Joe Paterno has been tarnished by Jerry Sandusky and what he did to bring down a great man.  Yes, I pay great respect to the victims and the families, but I will say that where Joe Paterno went wrong is that he didn’t follow through.  Yes, I was one of the biggest voices in calling for his resignation, but let this not tarnish who Joe Paterno was and what he meant to millions of people in college sports, education, State College, PA, and to the great state of Pennsylvania.  Joe Paterno touched a lot of hearts and did incredible things that shouldn’t be forgotten.

I am sad that over the past few months and his dismissal from Penn State Football had taken his will and his spirit.  The lung cancer that Joe Paterno had was curable, but his spirit had been shattered and that is what saddens me so much.

Joe Paterno, you will never be forgotten.  You are a HERO.  A man of men!  RIP . . . Joe Pa!  You are Penn State.  Penn State is Joe Paterno.
