After arriving home from Oklahoma City and hitting the bed at 2am, the thought of a 6am wake up call wasn’t really sitting too well, but the excitement of a vacation to Rolling Thunder was worth it all. 6am came pretty quick and I snapped out of bed and before you knew it 6:55am and I rolled to the meeting place – Dunkin Donuts (where else?), at the Bourne Rotary. This is where I met up with Linda, Jim, John, and would you believe it Butch called and asked, “Jeff, where are you guys?” I though Butch was meeting us here while he went to Tennessee to visit family. We never met up with Butch at the start, but as we pulled into our first rest area, there was Butch. Butch joined us and we enjoyed 500 miles from Cape Cod, MA to Gettysburg.
We arrived the Cabin at KOA Gettysburg about 6:30 pm and quickly got settled in. This is a beautiful campsite and the cabins are very well maintained. Nice place. Highly recommend. However, when they say they sleep 6, they are talking about a family. I can’t put six guys in a cabin unless two or four of them don’t mind cuddling together on twin bed. Not that there is something wrong with that, but I don’t think that John LaCasse and I would get along cuddled together on a twin bed. I think John would make me sleep on the hardwood floor. LOL . . . This is a great place. We are all comfortable and enjoying ourselves.
Today, we are taking Linda’s bike to Battlefield Harley Davidson to see if they can hook up some wires. Then off to ride the Battlefields a little. About noon we should hook up with Paul Houde back at the campsite and we are heading to Appalachian Harley Davidson, then we are going to ride Rt. 30 west towards Breezewood, PA. This is a beautiful ride that I think everyone will enjoy.
Back at the site tonight for some fun, fire, friends, and laughs. Excited for the day. Tomorrow morning they have a pancake all you can eat for $3.00. I love pancakes and I think I will get my money’s worth.
