3 Weeks on Weight Watchers and Where oh Where am I

Hey, it’s been nearly three weeks and here is my update.  I am down nearly 14 lbs.  This is a bit surprising because the past five days I was undisciplined and not a very good journal-er and eater.  I think I hit every McDonalds, Taco Bell, Wendy’s, Taco John in the Denver to Grand Junction area.  For the Superbowl, I ate a pizza and cheese bread all by myself polished down with a couple of liters of Coke.  Yeah, I deserved a big fat weight gain in my diary and I was ready for it.  My week of travel was horrible with weather, closed roads, etc.

So, I decided that although I didn’t journal I would get right back on the plan – Which I call In-Purpose right away and I did.  I got home late Wednesday night and finished with my last meal from McDonalds while at Pittsburgh International Airport while awaiting my US Airways direct flight to Boston’s Logan Airport.  When I got home I was to come clean to my wife and tell her my plan.

Done.  I was disappointed but not beat up.  After all, I am so responsible for my choices and the consequences.

I got up the next morning and right away I didn’t miss a beat.  Headed right to the Powerhouse Gym for the morning workout and cardio.  Great workout.  Felt awesome.  Get right back into the plan.

The next task for the day was to go to my Weight Watchers weigh in.  I was ready for the 9 lbs I lost to be 4 lbs put back on.  I wore the same clothes but this time I asked if I could strip naked.  They frowned upon that idea and didn’t see it nearly as important as I did.  So, I took the coins out of my pocket and left my belt on.  Figured it was the same thing from the week before.

Boo Yah!  I lost another 4 lbs.  HOW?  I was excited because I was bad.

Here is the deal.  Weight Watchers caters to the elder group of people whose activity points are those that consider a walk to the mailbox exercise.  Having said that, for a guy like me that is active and works out every day I will lose weight like crazy if I just follow the plan.  Even when I cheat I lose weight.  It’s about portion control and knowing values of the foods you are eating.  Furthermore, when you exercise and cut back on your calories you are going to lose weight.

Here is the formula I think works and it is a killer for me in how fast I am losing weight.  Check it out:

Exercise first thing in the morning.  This way I get it done and the metabolism is in high speed all day.  I eat at 6 am.  I eat/drink a protein shake right after the gym at 9:00 am.  Then, my cooler is prepared all day so I never let myself get hungry.  The key is to always keep your body in a digestive state whereas you are constantly burning calories at a rapid rate.  I am burning way more calories throughout the day than my body is taking in and I don’t feel hungry.  I am still eating what I want but not so much.  I am not constantly filling my body with crap.  Being prepared is the key.

So, I haven’t written in a while but here I am.  14 lbs lost in 3 weeks.  I gotta keep it going.

This weekend it’s chest, back and a lot of cardio before heading to New Mexico.
